Center for Peaceful Solutions

Imagine….dialoguing instead of debating, dancing instead of wrestling and cooperating instead of competing…

20 years research and practice by Maria and the Centre for Peaceful Solutions led to the understanding that some essential communication skills are missing for most of us.

Whether within our families or relationships, with our clients, in disputes or in education, conversations don’t always go the way that we would like and can leave us feeling disempowered, judged or misunderstood or lacking in the connection we seek.

In response to this all too common dilemma, Maria developed the Dialogue Road Map.

Introduction

We are offering 4 levels of DRM training and accreditation:
  1. Core Training: Learn the basics so you can apply it in your personal or professional life, with clients, colleagues, service users, your partners, family and friends.
  2. Facilitator Training: Facilitate 2 party disputes, hold a space for others, to support agreement being reached or communication to happen. Facilitator level DRM can also be used in traditional mediation.
  3. Conductor Training: Facilitate disputes that are multi party, with different stakeholders. Facilitate organisational and group change processes.
  4. Master Practitioner: You will be able to deliver the core training yourselfAccreditation: For each step we have an Open College Network accreditation. This will mean you can join our database of practitioners and use your training on your CV and literature.

Becoming a DRM Practitioner

  • Improve the quality of the conversations you have
  • Communicate so everyone trusts they have been heard and understood
  • Get engagement even in the face of hostility, anger or resistance.
  • Be in authentic dialogue not adversarial positions and notice the difference
  • Develop your empathy and listening skills
  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Feel empowered to express yourself effectively
  • Trust in self efficacy even when ambivalence is present.
  • Create outcomes that everyone involved feels ownership of.

A DRM Practitioner is assessed as being proficient in using the DRM in one to one conversations. It is the first step in becoming a DRM Master. If you work in a setting where you are regarded as a professional, expert, consultant or therapist then using the DRM will greatly enhance your communication and negotiation skills. Whether your interest is personal or professional, the place to start is with a minimum of 3 days of training.

Accreditation:

Once you have completed three days of training you will need to practice to gain experience. You can practice on Skype with other participants.

When you feel confident, you provide answers to a set of questions which help us to check your understanding plus 2 recorded sessions of you using the Dialogue Road Map based on scenarios we give you. These can be recorded using other practitioners or friends and family. We will assess your proficiency and either ask for more evidence or approve you as a DRM Practitioner.

Once approved, you will appear on our website as a DRM Practitioner and may use the title on your CV.

See the DRM Accreditation Fee Structure.

Becoming a DRM Facilitator

A DRM Facilitator is assessed as being proficient in using the DRM in two party disputes. It is the second step in becoming a DRM Master. If you work in a leadership, therapeutic or professional role where you are expected to manage conflict and resolve disputes, then the DRM Facilitator training will equip you to manage conflict and mediate between two parties. You may also want to charge people for your service as a mediator. The pathway to becoming a DRM Facilitator is to complete a minimum of 6 days of training (3 of these may have been your original practitioner training). We advertise our public trainings here. You will then be expected to practise and produce some case studies and be either observed or recorded. We will discuss the most appropriate way for you to build your portfolio depending on the context in which you want to use the DRM as a Facilitator. When we all agree that your proficiency is up to standard, you will appear on our website as a DRM Facilitator and may use the title on your CV and advertise yourself as a mediator supported by Peaceful Solutions. See the DRM Accreditation Fee Structure.
